Women’s basketball ranked 23rd in year-end coach poll – Creighton University Athletics

Omaha, Neb. , The Creighton women’s basketball team matched their best ranking in a USA TODAY Coach Poll in the program’s history when the Bluejays came in at number 23 in the year-end edition released Monday, April 4.

This is only the fifth time in the program’s history that the Bluejays have been ranked. USA Today Coach Poll, and is also being tabbed at number 23 for the first time on March 1, 2017. CU first came in at number 24 in 1992, as well as at number 25 on February 22, 2017.

Creighton finished the 2021–22 season with a 23–10 record and advanced to the program’s first Elite Eight thanks to victories over Colorado, Iowa and Iowa State, the latter two victories being CU’s first top pick in the program’s history. There were 10 wins. Iowa was ranked eighth in the Associated Press poll at the time, while Iowa State was ranked 10th.

The Associated Press does not release year-end voting.

Creighton also gained some recognition while watching the next season, as ESPN.com ranked the Bluejays 24th in their Women’s College Basketball Way-to-Early Top 25 for the 2022–23 poll.
