Would you like to work abroad? These are the countries in the working holiday agreement with Chile

The Working holiday (WH) corresponds to a visa that allows Chileans to go abroad to live and work for a certain period of time 12 months.

Chile has an agreement with several countries and to apply for these programs you must do so in accordance with the requirements and procedures specified by each embassy and by respecting the deadlines established in the application processes.

Which countries have a working holiday agreement with Chile?

This emerges from a list published by LUN The countries that have active working holiday visa agreements with Chile are:

  • Ireland 200 places (new applications possible from September 22nd)
  • Australia 3,400 places (applications possible from July 1st)
  • New Zealand 940 places (applications possible from October 18th)
  • Canada 4,185 places (open applications)
  • Germany Unlimited places (applications all year round)
  • Austria 200 places (open in January)
  • South Korea 100 places (open in January)
  • Denmark 150 places (open in March)
  • France 400 places (date will be reported on the embassy website)
  • Hungary 200 places (open in January)
  • Japan 200 places (application all year round)
  • Portugal Unlimited places (applications all year round)
  • Czech Republic 200 places (opens in November)
  • Poland 200 places (open in January)

What are the requirements?

The conditions for each working holiday may vary depending on the country you are applying for.

But for example in the case of Ireland which opens for 100 places on Friday, September 22nd at 9 a.m., The following requirements must be met:

  • Be a Chilean citizen.
  • Have a valid Chilean passport.
  • Be between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Do not travel accompanied by dependent family members (unless they have their own visa).
  • Never having participated in the program.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Do you have enough money for the maintenance and the return ticket or money to pay for it. If you have a return ticket, you must have 1,500 euros with you; or 3,000 euros if you don’t have a ticket.
  • Take out health and accident insurance that covers hospitalization and repatriation during your stay.
  • Pay the consular fees for the relevant visa.

It has been explained by the embassy that in order to apply after September 22, 2023, you must send an email after 9 a.m. expressing your interest in participating in the WHA 2023 program irishwhchile@vfsglobal.com.
