Goodbye to Xbox Live Gold, one of Microsoft’s longest-running services. The North American company announced some time ago its intention to replace it with Xbox Game Pass Core, a new subscription that will offer the player new benefits, including a library of games. Starting today, September 14th, the new service comes into effect with an initial 36 titles available to all subscribers. As they explained, the catalog is expanded regularly, about two to three times a year, so it is expected that the list will grow over time.
What happens to those who already subscribe to Xbox Live Gold? Nothing really: “As a reminder,” they noted on Xbox Wire, “there is no price change for Gold compared to Core, so no action is required to change payment or make membership adjustments.”

What doesn’t change is that you need to subscribe to one of the services to play online. Xbox Game Core offers this possibility and allows access to special offers as well as the Free Play Days promotion, which offers the opportunity to try out games. As for Xbox Game Pass, Starfield is the latest first-party game to be added to the catalog.
