Xiaomi is a well-established name in the wearables market, especially in Asia and Europe, with models like the Mi Band 6 impressing us with its incredibly low prices and solid feature set. We’ve heard rumors about the Mi Band 7 Pro since at least May, most recently with a teaser last week detailing its imminent arrival. Just in time, Xiaomi has unveiled its latest wearable, along with the new Xiaomi 12S Ultra with its much-anticipated Leica camera.
The Mi Band 7 Pro is somewhat similar to the Redmi Smart Band Pro, but with a 1.64-inch Always-On AMOLED screen (326 PPI) compared to the 1.47-inch display. There’s also a premium metal body, and the combination of that and the big screen definitely makes it look like a full-featured smartwatch.
As expected, the new wearable shares some of its functionality with the smaller Mi Band 7, including the ability (via XDA) to monitor/track blood oxygen, sleep, heart rate, etc. Xiaomi says that the Mi Band 7 Pro offers over 180 watch faces out-of-the-box and can track 117 sports modes, covering outdoor and indoor activities. Like we heard the rumours, GPS is now built-in, and the 5ATM water resistance means it can survive some swimming too, provided you don’t go more than 50 meters underwater.
The Mi Band 7 Pro reportedly lasts up to 12 days on a single charge, thanks to its 235mAh battery. NFC support is also included, enabling contactless payments where supported. Capabilities like camera controls, smart notifications, and locating a lost phone round out the wearable’s feature set.
We have seen the Mi Band 7 Pro in two colors – graphite/black and rose gold/white, based on a leak from last week. We are now also getting six silicone straps in colors like Vitality Orange, Resting White, Joy Live Pink, Meditation Green, Night Leap Black and Stretch Blue. According to Android Authority, these replacement straps will sell for CNY 39, or just under $6, while Xiaomi will be offering limited-edition bands in Monet Gray and Van Gogh Green, each priced at CNY 59 (~$9).
The Mi Band 7 Pro officially went on sale in China today, priced at just CNY 399 (about $60). Given the combination of smartwatch-like hardware and affordable pricing, the Mi Band 7 Pro has the potential to make some inroads into the attractive fitness tracker market. Xiaomi hasn’t provided specific details on global availability or pricing yet, but we expect that information to come soon.
