In a March survey by Capital One, 42% of startup founders said they’ve battled burnout in the past month.
Furthermore, according to Yerbo co-founder Marcos Spontan, employee burnout is expected to cost the tech industry approximately $108 billion in 2021.
With this in mind, the Mental Health Tool for Technical Teams tracks 36 mental health factors and signals when you are at high risk of burnout.
“Burnout used to be the elephant in the room that we knew we needed to talk about, but we didn’t,” said Cesar Berho, co-founder of Yerbo.
The platform presents practical steps to mitigate risks and help employees feel healthy and stay connected to your company.
In addition to employees, the platform offers questionnaires to measure burnout in students, entire teams, and now, founders.
“Yerbo is bringing together software engineers and behavioral science professionals to create high-impact, easy-to-use tools that help developers and managers avoid burnout,” Spontan said.
Yerbo wants to start the burnout conversation among founders
According to Marcos, 46% of those at high risk of this syndrome are determined to leave the company within one semester and 6% are at low risk of burnout.
“It’s something that was historically unavailable, not because the problem didn’t exist, but because no one wanted to talk about it,” Spontan said.
With the data obtained by the platform, Yerbo wants to start a conversation about burnout and take action on it, particularly in the technology industry.
Following the Burnout Index, the platform and Business Insider Mexico seek to find out how founders are about their mental health while promoting the Founder Burnout Index, a free burnout diagnosis.
