You are observing a system with a 70% chance of cyclone development

The National Hurricane Center (CNH) reported Monday that it is monitoring a system still in Africa that has the potential to develop into a hurricane.

The probability of the system developing in the next seven days is 70 percent.

The system could become a tropical depression by the end of this week.

“Environmental conditions are forecast to favor gradual development of the wave thereafter, and a tropical depression is likely to form later this week or this weekend as the system moves westward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic “ says the CNH report from Monday, 2:00 a.m.

Heat warning for 30 cities

The weather authorities have issued a heat warning for this Monday, which applies to 30 municipalities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The notice would affect citizens of the following cities: Bayamón, Carolina, Cataño, Guaynabo, San Juan, Upper Toa, Lower Toa, Upper Trujillo, Ceiba, Canovanas, Fajardo, Humacao, Loiza, Luquillo, Naguabo, Rio Grande, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Dorado, Florida, Manatee, Vega Alta, Vega Baja, Aguadilla, Camuy, Hatillo, Isabela, Quebradillas, Culebra and Vieques.

Heat indices of 108 to 111 degrees Fahrenheit could be detected.

Meanwhile, scattered to isolated thunderstorms are possible inland and western Puerto Rico. Flooding is possible in urban areas, roads, small streams and canals. There is a risk of isolated flash flooding.

Waves of seven feet or more are possible in the waters of the Atlantic and Mona Passage. Dangerous conditions for small boats.

There is a high risk of rip currents on beaches in the northwest and northeast of Puerto Rico. Culebra is actually at high risk of rip currents.

For the rest of the week, rough seas will continue in Atlantic waters at least until Thursday. There is a high risk of rip currents on most beaches in the north, east and west.
