young, angry, sensitive

Statistics say the youth are doing worse. how so?

young, angry, sensitive

Several studies and surveys have emerged in recent weeks, all indicating worrying about the condition of young people. Why is that – and is it really all that bad?

“Crisis are accelerators,” says sociologist Sandro Katacin of the University of Geneva. The Ukraine war will probably further destabilize the youth.

If young people had medical records, they would be obese. In recent weeks and months, several studies have been published that paint a bleak overall picture: youth in this country are tired, battered and depressed. Here are some concrete examples of representative surveys:

• 71 percent of women aged 18 to 24 feel tired, 51 percent are stressed. (CSS Health Study 2022, Sotomo)
• 84.5 percent of women in the age group of 18 to 30 years feel the pressure to stay healthy and fit all the time. (How Switzerland is really doing – Helsana Emotion Study, Sotomo)
• 56 percent of men and women under the age of 25 feel mentally stressed or very stressed (How are you?” campaign, GFS Burn)
• The University Psychiatric Clinic in Basel recorded 30 to 40 percent more registrations than in the summer of 2020 (“NZZ”).
