SAN LUIS POTOSI, May 24, 2023.- Edgar Omar Gonzalez Valdez, State Responsible for the Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health Program, explained that within the San Luis Potosi health services there is a sexual and reproductive for adolescents that is one of is in form. A strategy for the creation, training, follow-up and training of adolescent youth promoters who receive preparation by operational personnel of health units that have conducive services to receive comprehensive education in sexuality.
Among the topics addressed in friendly services are the following: sexual and reproductive health in adolescents, contraceptive methods, emergency contraception, postpartum event contraception (APO), sexual and reproductive rights of adolescents, life skills, menstrual management, risky and Protected Sexual Practices, Dual Protection, Life Project, Dating Violence Prevention, Sexual Diversity, among others.
It is aimed at disseminating information between adolescents and their parents in a clear, objective, timely manner, without prejudice, so that they can make independent, responsible and informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive lives, thus Sex can be avoided. Risk behaviors as prevention of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
After receiving training, these teenagers become repressors and undertake counseling and guidance activities for teenagers, urging them, “from boy to boy, to strengthen themselves as youth promoters”. They also provide assistance to this population at health fairs, create short films, plays, songs, projects with topics in which they received training, and even participate in national meetings of youth promoters.
