Zacatecas registers more than a thousand cardiac deaths in 2022

Zacatecas’ death rate was the highest in the country in preliminary data for 2022 According to National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

From January to June last year, 6,848 people died in Zacatecas.which translates into a death rate of 49.6 males and 34.5 females for every 10,000 inhabitants; well above the national average Which was 39.7 and 29 respectively.

Assaults were the third cause of deaths at the state level, with 586 deaths, of which 514 were male and 72 female. It is to be noted that, during 2021, Homicide was also the third major reason according to the same source.

In Zacatecas, the killings exceeded deaths from malignant tumors and COVID-19, which claimed 585 and 517 lives, respectively.

This represents the difference between 5,252 and 5,000. 882 deaths, which equates to 5.80 and 6.45%, respectively. Both were below expectations.
