Zappe advances Western Kentucky to Middle Tennessee, 48-21

Bowling Green, Ky. (NWN) — Bailey Zappe threw four touchdown passes and ran for fifth as Western Kentucky beat Middle Tennessee 48-21 on Saturday to win its fourth straight game.

Zappe, who entered the Football Bowl subdivision at an average of 425.9 yards per game, completed 29 of 50 attempts for 281 yards. He has thrown 37 touchdown passes to put Western Kentucky (5-4 4-1) above the Eastern Division of the Conference United States.

In the second quarter, Waititiato fired a 36-yard scoring pass to Yusuf Ali, Breden Norvesson scored a 35-yard field goal, and Jape made it 31-14 at half-time to eliminate Michelle Tinsley from 10-yards.

Vaticanto was 24 of 41 for 205 yards and two touchdowns, but was selected five times.

Zappe has thrown 16 touchdown passes during the Hilltoppers’ four-game winning streak.
