Zendaya and Tom Holland don’t understand the difference in their heights. “Euphoria” actor is taller than the Dutch … So what?
The stars of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” addressed environmental issues around their heights during their performances at SiriusXM on Friday.
Leading Jessica Shaw noted that her height difference with fans “turned into this thing” after the 2019 Spider-Man: Away from Home kissing scene of Spider-Man (Netherlands) and MJ (Zendaya). But the actors were surprised that someone cared.
Shaw then called it a “misogynistic thing” because many people think that in a heterosexual partnership, women should be inferior to men.
“This is also normal,” Zendaya replied. “My mother is taller than my father.”
Dutch, who first noted that Zendaya was “an inch or two” taller than himself, said it was a “stupid assumption” that a man should be taller than a woman in a relationship.
The couple was joined by Spider-Man actor Jacob Battalion, who called out, “It’s not weird for women to be tall.”
Zendaya later pointed out that he didn’t know that the height difference between a man and a woman was “something” to people until he was older.
“My parents have always been like that,” he added before adding, “I have no idea about that.”
Zendaya and Holland aren’t exactly bothered by their heights – even if there are some fans. Even more recently, they joked about how the difference in height in Spider-Man: No Way Home affected their ability to do a certain stunt.
During the Graham Norton Show last week, the Dutchman explained that the stuntman had landed on him with Zendaya tied to him, but that Zendaya had landed on the ground before him and swayed under his feet.
“And then he would catch me,” he said, and joked that things weren’t going well and that he needed to “look cool” when he first landed.
The Netherlands also recently addressed the couple’s long-rumored romance, discussing their off-screen relationship in a cover story for GQ’s “Men of the Year” issue last month.
He said photos released in the summer showing paparazzi kissing at a traffic light in Los Angeles “stole” their privacy.
